Frequently asked

How much is a hunting lease per acre?

Most US hunting leases run $5 to $25 per acre per year. Premier whitetail country in the Midwest and Texas trophy ranches push $30 to $80+ per acre. Big timber and waterfowl tracts in the Southeast often sit at $8 to $15 per acre. Public-adjacent or rougher ground can be as low as $3 to $5.

How much does a hunting lease cost in total?

A typical small group lease (200 to 500 acres) runs $2,000 to $10,000 per season. Texas deer leases for a 4-hunter group commonly land between $4,000 and $15,000 per gun. Day leases run $75 to $300 per hunter per day depending on species and amenities.

How much should 30 acres of hunting land rent for?

30 acres is small for most hunters, so price is driven by adjacency and improvements more than acreage. Expect $300 to $900 per season in the Midwest or Southeast, more if it borders public land or has food plots and a stand setup.

Are hunting leases paid monthly or annually?

Most annual leases are paid in full up front or split 50/50 (deposit at signing, balance before season). Multi-year leases sometimes allow quarterly payments. Day and weekend leases are paid at booking.

What drives hunting lease price the most?

In order: deer or game quality and density, distance to a metro area, neighboring land (private vs. public), improvements (stands, food plots, cabin, water), exclusivity (members per acre), and length of season covered.

Do prices include lodging?

Usually not. Land-only leases are the norm. Outfitted leases that include a cabin, meals, or guide service are priced separately and typically marketed as guided hunts, not leases.
